This year is the 50th anniversary of the Rolex Sea-Dweller, and it’s definitely not going unnoticed. At Baselworld we had the debut of the new Sea-Dweller, with it’s single line of red text on the dial and the controversial Cyclops magnifier over the date window. Ben went on to review the watch in this A Week On The Wrist (spoiler alert – it’s complicated). It’s hard to talk about the new Sea-Dweller without looking back at its history though, considering the original watches that inspired the current incarnation.
One of the most elusive and rare Rolex Sea-Dwellers replica watches UK are the so-called “Single Red.” They rarely come up for sale and sell for crazy prices when they do. Different dealers and collectors will tell you different total numbers – anywhere from five to 20 – but Jose at Perezcope has found 12 examples and compiled 11 of them in an in-depth study of the idiosyncratic dive watch. It’s a pleasantly nerdy look at one of the rarest Rolexes of all time.
Have you been waiting for new Rolex Sea-Dweller fake watches UK ? Among a series of new models, Rolex has announced a new version of their famed professional diving watch, the Rolex Sea-Dweller. Carrying the new reference 116600, the 2014 Rolex Sea-Dweller sticks very close to the look and feel of past iterations of this historic diver with very close ties to the Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 which was discontinued in 2008. The Rolex Sea-Dweller was originally launched in 1967 as a response to the expanding world of saturation diving. Thanks to input from the US Navy (via the SEALAB II program) and French Comex divers, Rolex designed a watch that was capable of withstanding extreme pressure and expelling the helium gas that can seep into the case during a saturation dive.
An excellent example of what people mean when they say “tool watch,” the Rolex Sea-Dweller waterproof replica watches are the stuff of dive watch legend, and Rolex didn’t mess with the established formula for this updated version. Still sporting a 40mm case in 904L steel, a date display with no magnifier and 4000 ft (1220 M) of water resistance, the 116600 keeps up with the modern line-up thanks to the inclusion of a Cerachrom bezel and a Gildelock clasp with a 26mm diving extension on the bracelet.
In many ways the new Rolex Sea-Dweller 4000 Ref. 116600 is similar to the Rolex Submariner, but after a few months working out at the gym to bulk up. The Rolex Sea-Dweller 4000 Ref. 116600 case is water resistant to 1220 meters versus the 300 meters of the Submariner, and sports a thicker case and sapphire crystal. While most people who dive won’t really need that extra water resistance, Rolex like to make its diving watches suitable for the most extreme conditions. Having said that, from a purely aesthetic standpoint a great benefit of the Rolex Sea-Dweller over the Rolex Submariner Date, is that you get to have the inclusion of a date window, without having the sapphire crystal magnifier lens on the crystal.
Sporting the same Rolex 3135 movement that is found in the 116610 Submariner Date, the Rolex Sea-Dweller 4000 Ref. 116600 has a power reserve of 48 hours and features a Parachrom hairspring and COSC certification. The Rolex Sea-Dweller’s considerable water resistance is thanks to a case and crystal that is thicker than that of the Submariner and firmly places the resistance of the Rolex Sea-Dweller between the 1000 ft Submariner and the 12,800 ft DeepSea. This might be an extra watch model for a niche group of consumers or the model that is akin to the right temperature porridge if you want to use the Goldilocks analogy.
Technologically speaking, the helium escape valve (HeV) is the Rolex Sea-Dweller’s signature feature and it can be seen at its usual place on the nine o’clock side of the case. If tiny helium molecules in the breathing mix of a saturation dive were to seep into watch, the helium would expand during ascent and the increased pressure could damage the watch. The HeV allows the expanding gas to be vented from the case, thus protecting the watch without compromising overall water resistance. Rolex once again promises beautiful luxury Rolex copy watches that you can take underwater for your real or fantasy diving missions.
What may seem like a few minor design changes here and there actually mean a lot of serious firsts with the new-for-2017 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary model reference 126600, making this replacement of the Sea-Dweller 4000 one of the more important releases of Baselworld 2017.
First and foremost, let’s begin with the tech specs, as with this new reference 126660, the Rolex Sea-Dweller has received five major updates: first, it has grown from 40mm to 43 millimeters wide, making for a very considerable difference between the Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary and the Submariner (which is 40mm).
Second, it received a cyclops over the date, a first for Rolex Sea-Dweller replica watches and ascontroversial an update as the growth in size. Third, it is now powered not by the 3135 but the updated 3235 caliber (the same as the Datejust 41 reviewed here). Fourth, it has a redesigned bracelet that is now wider and makes for a more secure fit on the wrist. Last, but not least, it pays tribute to the original Sea-Dweller of 1967.
All this, of course, seriously changes the looks of the Rolex Sea-Dweller. The larger case and bracelet make it more proportionate by matching a greater diameter case with the existing thickness – that was arguably a bit disproportionate with the 40mm width of the previous 116600. Bear in mind that the thickness (no official figure on it yet but check the wristshots to get a good idea) is necessitated by the 4,000ft/1,220m water-resistance.
While in this regard the added width makes sense, the new-found cyclops – again, new for the Rolex Sea-Dweller altogether – arguably is an even more controversial decision. The Rolex Sea-Dweller, some argued, from the get-go should have been a larger alternative to the No-Date and Date Submariner models (instead, all three watches thus far had been 40mm wide) – but the cyclops, even Rolex admits, is a less obvious and more controversial addition.
A lesser-known fact is that the original Rolex Sea-Dweller fake watches UK of 1967 did not have a cyclops because when Rolex added it to the plexiglass front, it caused structural weaknesses in it and ultimately caused it to shatter before reaching the desired depth rating – and so the cyclops was omitted. The Rolex Sea-Dweller all until 2017 has maintained its cyclops-free looks, making yet another reason for it to be a Submariner alternative (as, clearly, not everyone is a fan of the cyclops-look). Now, in this regard, the Rolex Sea-Dweller is more in line with all other collections, with only the Deepsea now standing out from the rest, as it still does not have a cyclops over its date aperture.

It is also the first time ever that a Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea Replica Watches is made with a case entirely in Tantalum. This metal has been named as such from the Greek’s mythology “Torment of Tantalus” as it is extremely hard to work with.
